Frowny Face Smily Face

Frowny Face - It's cold outside, and icy.

Smily Face - It looks like Christmas outside.

Now for more smily face stuff...

Scrubs returns tonight (yay!) and I got a taste of what this season will hold courtesy of my press contacts. Should be a good season.

House was excellent this week! The ending surprised me, but I guess it shouldn't have if I had been paying attention.

Easily Amused, one of my favorite Canadian bands (and really nice people) are playing in Edmonton on Dec. 12 at the Sidetrack. If you live in E-town, you should go. Tickets are only $7, and the show starts at 8pm. If you watched Canadian Idol last season, you saw how talented Keith is, Renee is just as good.

Saturday night is date night! Whoo-hoo! The church is doing a free childcare night, now we just need to settle on what to do with our free time! I also hope to get Amy to watch Elijah one night this month so we can go to a movie.

That's about all that is going on. I have a lot of running around I want to get done this weekend. We will see what gets accomplished.

I'll close with a quote from this week's episode of House.

Judge: You were in here yesterday telling me her father’s guardianship was best for her.
House: I honestly thought I’d get a different judge.

Blah Blah Blah

Here is what the rest of Saturday held:

We were treated to Jim N Nick's by our company, and they loved it as much as we do. There was a ton of food leftover, which made for a tasty dinner for us Sunday night. I switched them on to the awesomeness of Cost Plus World Market, I think they'll go there all the time now. That was all the day could afford before they had to catch their afternoon flight.

Sunday we stayed home from church, because I was still coughing, and Elijah's nose was still runny. We cleaned the house, then decorated for Christmas. We put up the fake tree (who was named Cornelius a few years ago) and I had to pick which ornaments would adorn it. There just isn't enough room for all of them. We then pretty much took it easy all day.

Yesterday I called Dawn to wish her a happy birthday, and ended spending almost an hour and half on the phone with her & Colin. She LOVED her gift (yay!), and we had a good chat. Dylan liked his birthday gifts too, and Colin won't get to open his until Saturday.

Today, I went to the dentist for a cleaning, and there were no problems. It was the shortest appt I've ever had.

This week, nothing else going on. We were watching The Secret Life Of... last night (it was about Christmas foods), and Jim O'Connor said the funniest thing. So that'll be my closing quote.

"Don't hide your stale nuts in a fruitcake"

Giving Thanks

What a wonderful weekend (and it's only Saturday)! An excellent Thanksgiving, we have a lot to be thankful for. :)

Thursday morning Elijah and I watched Geoff run in the Mile High Turkey Trot. The weather was brisk, but not unenjoyable. Plus it's only a 4 mile race. Elijah loved seeing all the dogs there and the turkey mascot. We came home, he had a short nap, then we went to Curt & Jan's Thanksgiving feast. A tasty, fun time, as always. There was a little drama with the dogs, but he eventually got over that. He was just startled by the dogs greeting him, he prefers to be the one approaching dogs. By the time we left, he was petting them.

We picked up our company at the airport, and talked the evening away. Friday, we had our own feast to enjoy. The day was much chillier than Thursday, which made for a chilly walk around Southlands. Geoff slaved away over the stove, and it was every bit as tasty as the previous turkey dinner. We played games, and went to sleep by 11.

Today we'll bid adieu (sadly) to our guests. Thankfully it's supposed to get up to 58 today (that's 14 C). Tomorrow we'll decorate for Christmas, I can hardly wait.

Lastly, Happy 7th Birthday Dylan!

Random Items

* Since the letter has hit Canada (or will hit most of it by tonight) I will post on the Little Legume blog tonight the sex of the baby. NO POSTS ANYWHERE UNTIL THEN...Please. :)

* If you didn't get a hard copy of the Christmas letter and are interested in reading it, please email me, I'll send you a link to where you can see it along with our Christmas picture. 'Cause I know I have some online friends.

* Elijah and I have colds. :( He has a runny nose, I have a cough. The timing of this sucks! Please pray for a speedy recovery.

* On Sunday, I got to talk to my nephew. You know, as much of a conversation as you can have with a seven year old (or almost seven year old). I wish I could see him more often.

* Scrubs returns to Thursdays next week (finally!), and Psych returns on January 19. It's my hope that I won't be in the hospital when Lost returns in February. I'll have to have a talk with the fetus to ensure that we're not staying overnight on a Wednesday. Mind you, the hospital does have flat screen tvs in each room...

Surviving

Taken this morning
I don't know how long I have to type so I'll keep it short. I'm babysitting Caley today, while Shaun is at work, and Amy is out of town. Wow, it's hard to amuse two kids at once, even harder to get them to nap at the same time (which I've somehow managed right now).

Christmas cards have been mailed. I'd like to implore all of you to refrain from making comments on ANY blogs regarding what you might read in the letter (since some people hop from my blog to my friend's blogs). Let's set November 24th as the date when I will post the info on the baby's blog, and then anyone can speak up. I figure all the cards should be in everyone's hands by then. (Canadians, if you don't have it by then, let me know on the 23rd, and I won't spoil it)

I'm really looking forward to Thanksgiving this year. There has been a change of plans, and we're having guests! We'll be doing our big dinner on the Friday, since Geoff is doing the Turkey Trot on the Thursday morning, and our guests from the East Coast won't arrive until that afternoon. Figure out who it is? :)

I'm going to go and enjoy the silence. :)
**Update- Elijah ended up sleeping 2 hours, and Caley 3 hours. It was wonderful!

Joy Joy Joy

I got my invite to the Marlowe-Cramer wedding! Happy Happy Joy Joy! I can't wait to see everyone, and see Champ (Erik) tie the knot. I bought my ticket a few months ago, and Cindy's going to take great care of me (picking me up at the airport, letting me stay at Casa Krolik). I'm going to miss my boys (I'm going solo), but I'm sure they'll survive without me for a few days.

We got our membership to Trails last week, and I went to exercise three days last week. I'll probably go tonight, and I'm considering getting a punch card so I'll have the option of putting Elijah in the daycare if I go during the day.

Friday, I'm watching Caley all day. I'm sure it'll be fine, she loves me, and she & Elijah get along pretty well. In any case, I may borrow Myrna's double stroller in case I need some fresh air.

I've got the Christmas music going, I've lit the Hollyberry candle once already, bring on the decorations! Geoff won't go for it, I'll have to wait until after Thanksgiving. But hopefully we'll get the outdoor lights put up this weekend. And I think we'll wait until Thanksgiving to put out the deer I bought last year and turn all the lights on.

Before I sign off, Happy Birthday Heather!

I'm going to close with a quote from City Slickers II: The Legend Of Curly's Gold.

Phil: In case we don't make it and I die first... eat me.
Mitch: Eat you? I don't even like talking to you on the phone.

Asia

I doubt I'll ever go to Asia, unless it was on a cruise ship. But evidently...

Why Independent Bookstores Are Better

I went to the Tattered Cover today, and was so thrilled be able to find EXACTLY what I wanted. After being in a few different chain bookstores, it was refreshing to have something specific in mind and be able to find it. I left very satisfied with my purchases for my nephew's Christmas gift and my sister-in-law's birthday gift. Sigh, I just wish the TC was closer to get to it more often.

Day To Day

Nothing blogworthy has been going on, just day to day stuff. But since there are a few people out there who want to hear it, I'll write.

We had a busy weekend of running around getting stuff done. I feel like I'm ready to tackle Christmas, now that I'm armed with Peet's Holiday Breakfast Blend tea & coffee. We put together a budget for Christmas gifts, we finally decided what we were going to buy each other, and what Santa is bringing Elijah. The Christmas cards are half addressed, the letter is ready to take to Kinkos. Oh yeah, and the weather is so nice here (today it's 77 F, that's 25 C).

Yesterday I had a good day where I didn't feel as big as a house. I felt normal. Maybe it's because I'm going to start my aquasize class PDQ. It's put me in a more positive frame of mind. Amy & I tried to track down a book, and believe it or not, NO bookstore in Aurora or Denver had it in stock! It's called 21 Days To A Great Marriage. Our small group is going to study it. But we couldn't find a copy for Amy anywhere.

Elijah has been doing great, he just talks and talks all day. Geoff is excited about partaking in a Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving morning at Washington Park. Just 4 miles, but he'll be able to be timed. I'm trying to decide whether I want to volunteer to help out, or just go watch and take pictures.

Speaking of Thanksgiving, we got our annual invite to Curt & Jan's for turkey. Always a good time, and excellent food.

I know I usually close with a movie or tv quote, but this made me laugh out loud yesterday. A quote from my friend Erik, upon hearing that Elijah is a southpaw:

Can't wait to give a high five to your gifted lefty (he'll have such a high quality of life being among us greats!)

My Inner Californian

You Belong in San Francisco

You crave an eclectic, urban environment. You're half California, half NYC.
You're open minded, tolerant, and secretly think you're the best.
People may dismiss you as a hippie, but you're also progressive, interesting, and rich!

I don't think that totally describes me, but I do love San Fran. If I could afford it, I might live there. :)

Isn't It November 7th Yet?

I am just counting down the days until the ads go away. :)
